Kontio Glass House — a hunting hide with a difference
The owner of a family farm in the Karlovy Vary region had a glazed KONTIO Glass House hunting hide built from an old waterworks building — with a minimalist interior, a fold-away kitchen unit, and a small bedroom for resting after a night watching for game.

You can now see for yourself that Kontio timber homes aren't just for family living. Welcome to a luxury timber hunting hide in the Glass House style.
When he bought a derelict farmstead in the middle of unspoilt countryside in the Karlovy Vary region a few years ago, its new owner had no idea just how closely his life would become tied to KONTIO. For his family home, he was looking for a supplier who could meet his high standards for quality, and above all for sustainability and a connection to the nature surrounding him. And Finland's KONTIO, the market leader in timber homes, met those requirements perfectly. So when he went looking for a company for his unusual build — a log hunting hide — the choice was clear.
The original farmstead has grown into a thriving family farm specialising in cattle and hunting. And it was this great passion of his, hunting, that gave the owner the idea of rebuilding one of the hunting hides — not just as a spot for observing game, but also as a place to rest and relax, a retreat for himself and for the clients who visit the farm.

Recycling in practice, or how to make use of an old waterworks
To demolish, or not to demolish? The owner spent a long time wrestling with how to make effective use of the original old waterworks building. In the end, after consulting a builder, he decided to use it, at least partly, as a solid foundation for his "dream". You can judge the result for yourself. What emerged is a small but modern timber structure built from glue-laminated beams of Nordic pine, with the inimitable qualities that make Kontio timber homes so good.
The Glass House range offers everything you'd expect from a hunting hide like this. Glazed walls give a wide view of the surrounding countryside and let you watch game without limits, while solid wood ensures the structure is highly stable and sturdy, standing as it does on tall piles. An outdoor terrace that flows seamlessly from the interior extends the observation area and strengthens the sense of connection to the surroundings.
Functional comfort inside
Where a classic hunting hide has a wooden bunk, comfort was the main priority inside this log hide. And since it is, after all, a hunting hide, the fittings are minimalist and functional — but never at the expense of comfort. The interior offers everything you need to feel completely at ease. It also includes a kitchen unit that — to save space — folds away, cleverly tucked inside a cabinet. And if a long night's wait for a wild boar leaves you exhausted and reluctant to make the trip home? No problem — this log hide also has a small bedroom, complete with its own bathroom. And once you've had your fill of the hunt and want to enjoy a few moments of undisturbed calm, all you need to do is draw the blinds.
All in all
A hunting hide built as a Kontio log timber home in the Glass House style might sound, to some, a little unusual — but in this case, it's a dream come true. This log hunting hide gives its owner space for everything he loves: a base for his hobby, a comfortable, fully equipped interior, all crowned with a stunning view of the surrounding countryside… what more could you ask for.
