The idea that solid wood catches fire easily is an old myth. A solid KONTIO beam is exceptionally fire-resistant. When exposed to flame it does not flare up — the surface chars only millimetre by millimetre, forming a charred layer that blocks heat from penetrating inward and keeps the whole structure stable.
