Elegant Finnish living fits the Czech landscape too
A likeable married couple own a large, varied plot of land near Kyjov, Moravia. On the lower part of the plot stands the masonry house of Petr and Viera's adult son. The upper part of the plot, with a beautiful view over the surrounding Moravian landscape and originally intended for tennis courts, ended up serving as the site for an elegant, inviting house with a terrace, where Viera and Petr can enjoy life's pleasures — not least thanks to a wonderful wine cellar, where Petr keeps his precious liquid treasures :-)
The couple's timber home is designed to fully suit the needs of two people. It's not oversized, and it feels elegant and cosy. The house is dominated by a living area connected to the kitchen and dining space. While cooking, Viera gets to enjoy views of the wooded hills opposite, and can also take part in whatever's happening in the house, since nothing separates her from the living space. The living area is beautifully bright thanks to French doors leading out to the spacious, partly covered terrace.
The interior of the whole house is designed with the elegance and taste typical of the proud owners of this exceptional home. The beams inside are finished with a light stain, and the oak floor has been treated with a wax-oil product to bring out its natural beauty. All the furniture was thoughtfully chosen to complement and highlight the beauty of the natural materials. From the dining area, sliding doors lead easily and comfortably out onto the timber terrace, so meals can be served outdoors whenever the weather is nice.
A sauna, a natural part of Finnish-style living, is of course included in this house too. It's accessed from the bathroom, whose floor is made of soapstone. After relaxing in the sauna, you can unwind in the fresh air in the outdoor relaxation area.
Whenever they get the chance, the owners enjoy golf — the gentlemanly and ladylike sport. They don't just keep memories of the various golf courses they've visited in their heads, but tangibly too, as you can see in the picture below. Golf balls serve as a unique interior decoration with real personal value for Petr and Viera.
